What is Fan Fiction?

Around 1997 the Internet exploded with short and in some cases long fictional story websites. These stories could have a number of topic matters, mostly celebrities reacting to everyday life. Characters would come to life on the screen and take voyages through a thousand adventures. Stories are written like screenplays with the main character trying to shed the common type of light that usually surrounds them.

Taking the subject that from the pedestals we put them on and throwing them in everyday scenarios. Where they will fight or fall in love with everyday people. These characters or celebrities are popular because they do something that effects people. They wake up emotions inside their souls. The people who are truly touched become fans. These fans are so dedicated and excited about every move they make they become fanatical. Some of these types of fans have so much creative energy they have found an outlet; writing.

So what are Fan Fiction Writers?

They are fans that create stories in an attempt to put their star in a fictional situation. These writers do research and work hard to come up with original ideas. Websites are built, maintained and updated where they post their stories. Graphics, pictures, news, and even links to other fiction sites can be found on the sites. This is a huge movement on the Internet. Some authors host, that is allowing different writers to put stories on there sites. Webmasters network with one another to create quilts and mafias of fiction sites. These writers have support systems, how-to Guides and even Beta readers. Those are people who will proofread and correct your fictions.

Great fiction writers have not been over looked. Third-party sites will hold award ceremonies from time to time. Usually tallied polls will tell readers favorite writers, stories, and Site. In acknowledgement sites have the privilege to place award icons or graphics on their sites. Many of these writers take pride in their work and have their fictions copyrighted. Many enforce strict plagiarism rules on their sites. Readers can send feedback to communicate with the writers about stories or the latest gossip. Fan Fiction spread like wildfire when it first hit the scene. People have come to enjoy and love this genre of writing. It would seem it is here to stay.
